Our 2nd Care&Share Amazon fundraiser is a very important one to furthering our mission to help the people of the Amazon Jungle and also the Jungle itself. The pandemic slowed us down but now that things are opening up we are excited to get going again. We are going to help a lot of unfortunate people.
The Plan - We are traveling to a very remote area in the Amazon Jungle to a an area on a private river where three small indigenous villages exist. We are taking supplies from the port city of Manaus on a two day journey up the Rio Negro river aboard a liveaboard houseboat. Traveling with us will be an important group of people that will help us while we are there. Our mission is to provide a training program for the locals. We will be providing English classes, farming and agriculture, Fishing Guide Training and Eco Tourism. One of the goals of Bucket List Fly Fishing is to provide an alternative means of income for these outlying villages to replace, Illegal hunting, commercial fishing, logging and deforestation in general. Our sport fishing and Eco-Tourism business plans to train and hire locals for our operation in the region.
The pandemic is still ongoing in Brazil like much of the world. It has really effected these remote areas due to extreme isolation to protect the population, transportation costs for food and fuel and even less jobs to go around. The struggle is ongoing and for sure will have a lasting effect on the region.
The Program is expensive and time consuming. Donations will go directly to pay for supplies and fuel, having top teachers and trainers and for several projects planned in the villages regarding farming. Any amount of support will help our cause. The more the better and all the funds will go to help these people and the Amazon Jungle as well. Our journey starts on August 17th in Manaus, the capital city of Amazonia. It will take our crew two weeks to complete the trip and provide our much needed support.
Our first Care&Share Amazon fundraiser was for a specific family in one of the villages where we donated a Wheelchair and a Bathing table to an 11 year old boy name Felipe, born a Paraplegic. He has never had any motor skills or shown much emotion and at the age of 11, Felipe was getting too big to carry around the villages and back and forth to church. Our first mission took place during the Pandemic and extreme precautions had to be taken to deliver the goods. Since our journey last January, Felipe is a rock star in the village and has taken his first bath in the new shower built with gravity fed water by our team at the house of his family.
We lose our internet connection or run out of milk and it is a crisis. These people live without necessary things on a daily basis. Imagine your 11 year old special needs kid getting his first real bath at age 11. This is life in the jungle and our Care&Share program is here to help.
We plead with you to find it in your heart to help us help these people. Even the smallest of donations will go along way. Our journey will be well documented and the results available to you when we return.
Thank you in advance,
Rob Anderson and the Bucket List Fly Fishing Team
