This virus has no mercy, even on the innocent disabled population. As COVID-19 progresses, the staff at group homes for the disabled are working incredibly hard. Even during the virus, these workers are still dedicating their lives to the residents. As everybody is acknowledging workers on the front-lines of this virus, I would especially like to acknowledge the incredible staff who are committing themselves to helping the developmentally disabled population that cannot advocate for themselves. My uncle Eric unfortunately passed away due to the coronavirus, and was a resident at the Mishkon Group Home. The workers did everything they can to ensure his safety and well-being during this crisis. Homes for the disabled are seeing a surge in coronavirus cases and I want to recognize the heroic actions of the staff. I spoke with the director of Eric’s group home, and he loved my idea to help make the workers feel appreciated. I will be creating 23 personalized care packages for each of the workers. I will be posting pictures and updates as we progress. Thank you!!
