Hello,
My name is Alex Marinets and as many of you know, my mother Nelli Tonkal stayed in Ukraine during the war due to health issues and the inability to fly to Canada. She needs around the clock care after multiple accidents since the war started, and carehome with 24 x 7 care was the only safe place to stay for her. She has excellent care in the Care home at the moment. However, the whole country is facing a tough winter, and of course, elderly people with little to no family suffer the most.
Their care home is private and is trying to provide the best care possible, however constant electricity shortage means they have disruptions with water, heating, internet and need some help. Elderly people need water and heat to stay healthy, and at this time, while they are adjusting to using generators to heat water, something as simple as diapers, wet wipes, warm packs are of high importance.
At this time if someone in their home is not having necessary supplies, they have to be borrowed from someone who has it. It seems like those elderly who, like my Mom, have family and family can help, are supporting the care home and those who have no family or whose family has difficult times too due to this war. While it happens everywhere in Ukraine at the moment, I know that many of my friends will feel good helping someone they know.
My goal is to provide enough funding, so they do have enough diapers, wet wipes, other necessary equipment, to survive this winter. They do have a generator, and boiler, and they can now heat water, but washing for the whole care home under the circumstances is difficult. Their staff is amazing, the place is spotless and the food is good, but maybe we can help them keep people warm, healthy, clean and happy and have a good Christmas this year?
On the picture for this fundraiser is my Moms roommate, Mom and their caretaker. Mom sends hello to all our friends who met her and to those who can extend their generosity to the elderly people around her.
Glory to Ukraine!
