Care for Princess' Family
“Paying a Tribute to Princess Howell”
For everyone that had a relationship with Princess Howell, I think we can all agree that the word “Strong” truly defined her character. Whether your relationship with her began in grade school, college, work or even at a hair salon; you were apart of her family. To her family members and best friends, we call can agree Princess strongly believed in being a “Super Mom".
Between juggling parenthood, she maintained focus and professionalism with her career. She spent the last 20 years being employed with the Aids Healthcare Foundation as a Director of Managed Care and advocated for those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
Being a mother of three children is not an easy task. Princess took pride in taking care of her children, being involved with the PTA at Amaya and Noah’s elementary school while focusing on her professional career. Princess loved Adrian, Amaya, and Noah and gave her all to being their mother.
Adrian is an 18 year old, who just graduated high school. The day of Adrian’s graduation he immediately visited his mother, still wearing his cap and gown, waving and showing off his accomplishments to his mom who on the 6th floor of her hospital. Adrian remembers telling to his mom that he wanted to enlist into the US NAVY right after high school and is still committed to making that promise come true.
Amaya is 10 years old and will be entering the 6th grade. Amaya has always been her mom’s very best friend. They both found comfort in each other, being they were the only girls in the family. Amaya never failed to make her mom laugh and vise versa. Whether it was singing at the top of her lungs and sharing her favorite TikTok dances, she never failed to entertain and brighten her mom’s day. The two were inseparable, Amaya’s heart and compassion is just as big as her mom’s and will continue to be just as charming as our dear Princess.
Noah is 5 years old and will be entering the 1st grade. Noah loved his mom with all his heart. As wild and crazy that this little boy can be, he knew how to comfort and make his mom feel loved. He gave his mom endless affection by giving the biggest hugs, kisses and even praying for her whenever she needed it. Noah love and affection is truly a mirror reflection of what Princess showed her friends and family.
Princess was always available and was a confidant to many of her friends and family. She was easy-going and always treasured the advice of family and friends. She cherished the word “family” and was grateful for the loved ones in her life that she saw as “family.”
In October 2019, a new challenge to being a “Super Mom” was encountered. Princess admitted herself to the Emergency Room, due to a stubborn cough. After further exams, medical staff diagnosed her with something worse than a cough. Medical staff were reluctant to inform her that had leukemia. Overnight her world turned upside down and she immediately began her battle with her own body.
With a positive attitude and a fearless spirit, she completed chemotherapy, did several radiation treatments and had a Stem Cell Transplant. Princess knew the risks in conducting the procedures but trusted in the Lord and never lost faith. This process took several months, and she was determined to regain her health better than ever and to return to her children.
Initially, the treatments showed promising outcome and Princess remained positive. She trusted in the medical staff and focused on cooperating with every single procedure. Although it was not an easy journey, she knew the risk versus reward was worth it. As she continued her treatments, negative side effects of the Stem Cell Transplant developed.
Her health fluctuated from better to worse in a short span of time, but she remained focused. Her mind and soul stayed strong, but unfortunately her body could not keep up. She knew that all of her family and friends were rooting for her, trying to keep updated via texts of phone calls. Her strength and energy could not reach out to her loved ones, but know that she did appreciate all of the love and would have wanted everyone to spend quality time with her.
Due to COVID-19, the process of communicating with Princess has been extremely difficult. With the limited amount of visitors able to visit the hospital, it was difficult to show our love and provide our presence to Princess. To the family and friends that made the attempt to be as close to Princess, due to the circumstances, just know she knew you were there.
Princess peacefully passed away on June 11, 2020 at 12:21 A.M, while listening to “God will make a way.” Her battle exemplified who she was and she never stopped giving up. We know that the Lord works in mysterious ways and we believe he had a need for her in Heaven. We know that heaven has gained an angel and we know she is looking down on every one of us. Truly, we believe that in this season of mourning, God Will Make a Way.
We understand that everyone may be going through different circumstances and may be experiencing difficult times, especially in today’s climate. We do ask on behalf of Princess, if you are able to contribute to her fund, we would greatly appreciate it.
Donations to this fund would allow us to support her upcoming funeral arrangements. The donations would also assist with funding Adrian, Amaya and Noah.
At this time, we would like to thank you all for being a part of her life and spending the time to read her story. We appreciate the out pour of love that has been shown to the family. We also appreciate any kind words, any advice for healing, and any memories you can share with us that you have had with Princess to pass down to her surviving children.
We will update this site with any updates as we receive it. Thank you for your time and your prayers. We love you all!
