Care & Comfort for Sully and Annie Rollo

Donation protected
Born in January 2018,  Sully and Annie Rollo are fraternal toddler twins facing an uphill battle.  Though they are physical healthy, both twins are considered developmentally disabled in relation to their peers and have much testing and treatment on the horizon.

Both twins had been undergoing speech therapy, physical therapy,  nutritional therapy, and occupational therapy when COVID-19 changed the landscape and put an end to their weekly in-person sessions.  The isolation of quarantine has been especially hard on the twins, who had grown accustomed to regular visits from their therapists as well as family and friends. With their therapy unable to continue, there has been some backsliding in terms of their development that necessitated further assessment from their physicians.

Annie is a bright, happy girl who loves to play dress-up and wheel her babies around in their stroller. She has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder following a long battery of assessments that were put on hold due to her recent COVID infection. Though she has recovered from the virus, her needs are beginning to eclipse what has been feasible to provide in her family home. The tests alone have created medical bills totaling over $5,000.

Sully is shyer than his sister.  He is a reserved but sweet little boy who loves to spend time playing in the bath or running around in his backyard, though he is still largely nonverbal. Sully, like his sister, was unfortunate enough to develop a COVID infection, which put a necessary auditory brainstem response procedure on hold. He is still awaiting assessment appointments for an autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, and hearing impairment. Costs for these test are expected to more than double the current medical bills for the twins.

Sully has also developed some difficult dietary concerns. Due to severe stomach and skin problems, it was discovered that Sully has many food and environmental allergies that have required many new and expensive dietary restrictions and supplements

Sully and Annie's parents, Tina and Rich, have experienced severe financial difficulty due to COVID. Rich is an Illinois D97 teacher who is hosting distance learning for his students and has become the sole provider for the family. Tina, a trained Academic Associates Reading Program™, has been unable to continue tutoring students due to quarantine and shut-down protocols, removing a significant source of income from the family.

Health insurance coverage is only going so far. On top of the already extensive medical bills, Sully and Annie will require further diagnostics, procedures, therapies, tools, and adaptive toys suited to their needs and abilities that their insurance will not cover.  Even something as simple as the availability of childcare so that each child can go to their necessary appointments has added to the financial weight on the family.

Our goal is to help create an enriching environment in which the twins can learn and grow while easing the financial burden of their medical costs. Though their needs may differ, they deserve just as much ease and joy in their lives as any other child.

This fundraiser has been created by close friends of the family in hopes to benefit Sully and Annie, and provide for them the best possible future.
