Care Africa Children Orphanage

Hi, I'm Stephanie Curry and my husband and I have been helping to support two orphanages in Uganda, one called Care Africa Children. But their needs are great and ever-present and we can't do it alone.

I'm reaching out to our community to help support these children and those in care of Care Africa Children's. Every cent donated w (minus GoFund Me fees and international transfer costs) will go directly to the orphanage.

Currently, my husband and I have been Care Africa Children's only donors for a number of months. Last month, we recruited two other people to help.

It's hard to believe we can be the only ones giving to this orphanage until you realize there are over 2 million orphan children in Uganda. Many Ugandan orphanages aren't "official" (state-recognized) but simply started by a kind and compassionate individual wanting to help children who are starving and suffering.

The kind souls of Care Africa Children are Kintu, Mukunyu, and Naigaga. They not only help orphans but "widows, street kids, and poor people in their community".

Yet Mukunyu, the children's caretaker, barely makes a few dollars a day. The rent to house all the children is $120 a month and he and the children face eviction almost every month. It costs a couple hundred to feed the children each month. This is to say nothing of their medical needs for children who are suffering from physical ailments (skin infections, typhoid, and aids).

Almost every month they run out of money to feed the children and often go days without food or longer.

Last month, our donation went towards a sick toddler's hospital bills, leaving them unable to pay for rent until my brother-in-law stepped in.

Every month Mukunyu must choose between food, or shelter, or medicine, or some other emergency that pops up and rarely can he provide all of these needs.

I don't know how , but every day the orphanage depends upon God's grace, moving the hearts of those around them to provide. Unfortunately, most of the people they are surrounded by also live in abject poverty.
