Carabiner Collections is an LGBTQIA+ community‑run library serving the Brazos Valley of Texas. Our mission is to ensure everyone can see themselves reflected in stories; empowering LGBTQIA+ people to imagine bright, possible futures and helping non‑LGBTQIA+ readers grow into informed, compassionate allies.
Thanks to your generous donations, we achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in November 2024. Your support also helped us launch our website, carabinercollections.org, and create our mobile book bus, allowing us to display and lend books at various community events.
Additionally, For those who cannot attend events due to logistical barriers or concerns about being publicly associated with an LGBTQIA+ booth, we offer book‑hold lockers and book drop boxes throughout the community. Holds can be requested discreetly through our website, ensuring privacy and accessibility for all.
Funds raised will be used to cover ongoing yearly operating costs including:
- Vendor Fees: $200
- Merchandise & Program Supplies: $100
- Libib Library Catalog (1‑year subscription): $36
- Website Hosting & Maintenance (1‑year): $296
- Storage Unit (1‑year): $348
- UPS Mailbox (1‑year): $240
- Replacement Books (lost or damaged): $100+
In addition to operating expenses, funds will help us host the PRIDE Book Fair! A huge community‑centered event celebrating queer stories and literature through Carabiner Collections. This event provides FREE access for everyone and will include local vendors, author talks, drag performances, and more, all in celebration of Pride Month!
