We are raising money to support safe and healthy transportation for Fabián, a black trans essential worker and community health advocate based in the SF Bay Area.  Throughout this pandemic, Fabián has diligently provided health and wellness support every week at his current position which supports mostly low-income monolingual Spanish-speaking LGBT im/migrant community in San Francisco, all while navigating the intersections of anti-blackness and transphobia as the only black trans person at his organization.  In recent weeks he has also been training to be a part of SF's first round of Spanish-speaking COVID contact tracers to be able to effectively slow the spread of the virus and keep us all healthy.  As of this week he has been asked by his agency to additionally take on shifts working inside his org's office in SF, which means not only having to be in a poorly ventilated office space with other people and community members coming in for services multiple times a week, but also having to risk his health on public transit starting this week. 

As an Afro-Latino trans man and community health worker in high-risk communities, Fabián's risks for both exposure to COVID and mistreatment in medical settings are exceptionally high.   We are asking for the funds for help support Fabián have a healthier, less risky way to commute across the Bay amidst this pandemic and continue to maintain his employment in the safest way possible. This will ensure that he is able to continue to keep him and his loved ones as safe as possible and also continue to support the numerous community members who rely on his continued work. The sooner he is able to get this money, the fewer times he will have to expose himself to the risks of public transit multiple times a day. Please help us keep Fabián safe and healthy!
