Hi my name is Ania and I am a firefighter in California. Recently a group of firefighters from around the world including myself went on a humanitarian mission to assist the Ukrainian Fire Service during this time of war. In the process we worked very closely with an Ukrainian firefighter, Sergey.

 

Sergey lives in the north western part of Ukraine and had to evacuate his family to Poland when the war started. Sergey has been working every day since the start of the war including guiding us through different parts of Ukraine as we work through our mission. Sergey comes from a very humble background and is the type of individual to give everything he has to anyone who needs it. We soon found out that Sergey has never owned a vehicle due to not being able to afford it. In order to commute to work and around town he rides a bicycle. In order to get his family to safety; he heavily relied on the kindness and generosity of others to get his wife and daughter to Poland.

 

We are hoping to raise enough funds to purchase a vehicle for Sergey and his family as a thank you gift for his generosity and hospitality.
