Capt Vincent 'Vinny' Liberto Memorial Fund

Donation protected
On Friday, September 20th, Captain Vincent "Vinny" Liberto Jr. was killed in the line of duty.

The funds from this campaign will benefit his family. The Mandeville Police Captain served the Mandeville community for over 25 years. Over the course of the 10 year history of the Northshore Half Marathon, Vinny and the Mandeville Police Department have kept our runners & the community safe.

Capt. Liberto is the first officer killed in the line of duty since 1958. He was killed Friday afternoon in an apparent traffic-stop-turned-chase that ended with a 3-vehicle crash in Mandeville. At least one suspect in the chase emerged from the crash and reportedly shot into Liberto's car, fatally striking him. Another officer in the pursuit was wounded by gunfire.

Captain Liberto was a highly decorated and respected law enforcement officer known across the entire country. He graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1979, and after graduation joined the United States Marine Corps where he bravely served our country for many years.

Your support is greatly appreciated and will help a grieving family and department.
