Cancer Sucks! Support Sharon’s Fight Against NHL

Donation protected
My mom, Sharon, was diagnosed with Large Diffuse B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL),one of the most aggressive forms of NHL, in August of this year. Her diagnosis was very sudden; after experiencing constant pain and symptoms that went undiagnosed for months, her gallbladder was removed as a solution to the pain, only for her to be readmitted to the hospital with “cancer”. We spent two weeks in the hospital, where my mom underwent a myriad of sedated procedures, endoscopes, and biopsies waiting for an official diagnosis. Before leaving the hospital, she began her first chemo/immunotherapy treatment, which was very aggressive and lasted a total of five days. She continues this aggressive regiment in a shorter span every three weeks.

Since, I have been traveling monthly to North Georgia from my home across the state in Savannah to support and care for my mom during treatments. My trips are short due to my need to keep working, to financially support myself as well as my parents. I have worked full-time through my mom’s diagnosis, and I am continuing to do so, despite not having ETO or PTO at my job. My mom is slowly returning to work periodically outside of her treatments, but we have also exhausted all resources for pay through her job.

My entire family works hard, but my mom is the Super mom everyone dreams of. She went back to school while my brother and I were in middle/high school, and she began her career as a Geriatrics Nurse at NHC of Rossville 7 years ago. She never fails to give everything 100% despite always juggling her job, her kids, her six pets, her garden, and my dad, Tim. Prior to cancer, my mom had no health problems, so chemo side effects have affected her both physically and mentally. Even with her lack of strength, my mom has remained Super and positive through it all - continuing to be our supporter and caregiver even when she needs it most.

I am asking those who are fortunate enough to, to help alleviate some of the financial stresses of my family following my mother’s diagnosis and treatment; whether it’s donating or sharing with friends, family, or coworkers... in the end any and every dollar helps with medical expenses, travel expenses, daily expenses, and recovering from time taken off.

Lastly, I ask anyone and everyone to continue sending love, light, positive energy, thoughts, and prayers to my incredibly strong and courageous mom as we continue through her treatments and recovery. I am so incredibly thankful to have Sharon as MY MOM and best friend. I cannot imagine not being with her now or not having her later - and I know many others feel this way.

 We appreciate everything ❤️
