In July 2019 our lives changed forever when my mother Doris Starling was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer. Her colon and liver have both been taken over by cancerous growths that have been destroying her body from the inside out.
With a long fight of chemotherapy she finally had a life saving surgery preformed 5 hours away from our hometown Gaithersburg, Maryland, in New York City on January 23rd, 2019. Originally It was supposed to be a 6 hour procedure, with her discharge planned just 3 days after the surgery.
Surgery did not go according to plan, and here we are more than a month later with numerous complications, additional procedures, and an even bigger fight for her life. 45 days. 1,080 hours. That’s the amount of time we have collectively spent as a family taking turns scraping by, sleeping in hospital waiting rooms and now we anticipate staying many more.
As you can imagine we have been put under immense financial strain. We have exhausted all of our funds and savings to keep her alive. We are graciously asking for your help to provide donations for the costs of her medical bills and travel costs for our family to be able to take care of her in New York, 250+ miles away from our home. In the very possible event that we all are desperately praying against (she passes) we will utilize the donations to create the beautiful service and send off she deserves.
Saving her has been the primary focus in all of our lives. No donation is too small and every dollar means the world to us. We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time out of your day to contribute to our cause.
