This Canberra day long weekend I will be running to the coast with a friend over two days, when we will cover a bit over 80kms a day.....
Originally this was my friend Tony's idea, who was keen to pursue a childhood dream and when I heard of him doing it, couldn't help get involved - Tony is raising funds for Teacher's mental health and his Go Fund Me can be found here - https://www.gofundme.com/two-blokes-two-days-two-marathons-per-day?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fb_dn_cpgntopnavlarge_r&fbclid=IwAR3LjJAuSN0EQ1m6nkqAQO_m_58cF4kAV71jg8EU3QIntmRITHIHdfY_VUs
If we can make it to the coast, it will be the longest i've ever run over 2 days and also fits in with my training for three big runs coming up later this year (Buffallo Stampede, Ultra Trail and CCC in France).
For those interested, we will welcome anyone to run any sections of the run or join us for a beer on the Saturday night at Moruya pub after we finish!
Earlier this year, my good mate Jono Maclean started a small charity called Packtacular (https://www.facebook.com/packtacular/) to raise funds to provide backpacks of essential items to be given to Canberra's locals. The packs cost about $20 to put together and in December Jono slept out on the streets of Canberra for 4 days to gain a greater appreciation of what the homeless go through and in the process raised $3000, thats 150 packs which will be given out to the homeless shortly.
So to support Jono, Packtacular and those less fortunate, I told Jono I would try raise some funds through this run.
I figure that as the run is 160km, ill aim to raise $10/km, will also give me an added incentive to get it done when it starts to suck.
Any support is much appreciated..
Thanks everyone!
