FROM NOWHERE TO GO TO A HEART AGLOW:
“Yesterday, as I rushed through the hallways of the Mission, hurrying from one thing to the next, I was brought to a halt. One of our resident mothers was decorating the Family Day Room for her daughter's birthday party. She was laughing and joyful as she and our Family Manager hung balloons and banners and wrapped gifts for her little girl. For that afternoon, she wasn't living in a shelter with her two little children, she was celebrating her precious girl's life.”
“It struck me just then how exhausted this mother must be. What must her day be like trying to make a shelter feel like a home? How many tears has she shed in frustration as she tries to find work, childcare, and plan for the school year—not knowing when she will be in a home of her own? How many times has hopelessness overcome her as she struggled to leave behind bad habits and toxic relationships to embrace healthy new ones?” (City Mission Table Talk, July. 2018)

FUNDRAISING PURPOSE:
Our fundraising is designed to help City Mission fulfill its goals over the near term while they face their own challenges due to the impact of COVID-19 on the community and the economy. It doesn’t take much if everyone chips in. Donations of any amount will help, and if you can help spread the word to your contacts on social media by using our hashtag #findlaycityreliefmission, you are multiplying your impact. What we might spend on a cup of coffee each day for a week could fill the backpack of a child in need. Think of how much good you can do with just a little. We greatly appreciate any support you can give.
REACH FOR THE MOON AND YOU MIGHT JUST END UP ON A STAR:
In detailed meetings with City Mission, they’ve identified six current and vital needs for the ongoing success of their operation. We’ve broken those needs into phases one through six. Once we reach Phase one, the school supply goal, will have accomplished and we’ll move upward from phase to phase denoted here:
- Phase 1 - $250 for school/class supplies.
- Phase 2 - $500 for workout equipment for the CM health center.
- Phase 3 - $1,000 for a paper products drive (printer paper, TP, paper towels).
- Phase 4 - $1500 for two smart TVs and DVD players with mounts.
- Phase 5 - $2,500 for a tow motor.
- Phase 6 - $5,000 for computer equipment, IT support, and installation of a shared server.
