Camp Maluhia - Maui Wildfire Disaster Relief

Donation protected
Hi friends,

I recently left Maui after almost a month of being the health officer for a Boy Scout site named Camp Maluhia. A small crew of volunteers and staff worked hard together to create a wonderful experience for the scouts.

As you may have already heard, disaster struck about a month ago as the deadliest fire in the last century hit West Maui. The Pacific Disaster Center estimates that more than 2,207 structures were damaged, and that the vast majority of buildings exposed to the fire were residential. Not only have residents lost their homes and local businesses, but cultural heritage sites as well. Beloved Lahaina town and former Hawaiian Kingdom capital has essentially burned to the ground.

The death toll from the wildfires has reached 115 Maui county officials said, but there may be more as many locals haven't been found yet and the extent of the damage isn't clear. Around 1,300 people still have not been accounted for.

Camp Maluhia has opened its doors to locals that have lost their homes and are housing them in the limited cabins and tents they have. Camp Maluhia is largely led by volunteers and maintained by a small crew of retirees.

Leif Adachi, or Uncle Leif as he is affectionately called, is the camp ranger and director. He is a retired police officer of Maui County and has been working tirelessly along with his wife and children to tend to the camp's needs all year.

He has now opened the Camp's doors to shelter residents that have lost their homes.

They are in need of financial support as they attempt to house and care for adults and children. Funds will be sent directly to Uncle Leif at the camp and used to purchase food, clothing, drinking water, and PPE.

I, and everyone at the camp, would greatly appreciate your donation, no matter how small. Every little bit helps.

Please keep the people of Maui and Camp Maluhia in your prayers.

Mahalo.
