Camp Chandler Amphitheater Chapel Restoration

The YMCA’s Camp Chandler, formerly known as Camp Rotary and the YMCA Camp, holds a special place in our Fike family's history. It's where our dad, Bob Fike, took his first steps into the Y Camp world of service. He poured his heart and soul into this camp as Camp Director and the YMCA, until his untimely passing in 1982. Alongside our mother, Cecilia Fike, they instilled in us values of compassion, dedication, and community.

Join us, the Fike children (Kristie, David, Julie, Teddy, Michael, and Robert), as we embark on a journey to restore the spiritual essence of Camp Chandler's Outdoor Chapel.

The outdoor chapel, a serene amphitheater nestled within the camp's acreage, stands as a testament to our dad’s devotion. By God’s grace, our dad and a few fine men built this chapel and it has been a cornerstone of the camp experience for generations. Every year for many summers, we, the Fike children, joined our parents at Camp Chandler, learning, growing, and serving.

Thanksgiving holds a special significance for us. It's a time of gratitude and reflection, a time when we return to Camp Chandler to reconnect with our roots. However, this past Thanksgiving, our hearts sank as we witnessed the ravages of time etched upon the outdoor chapel. Rot and decay had taken hold, threatening to erase the memories and the legacy our dad left behind.

But from adversity springs opportunity. In honor of our beloved parents, and with a deep-seated commitment to preserving the spirit of Camp Chandler, we are rallying the community to join us in restoring the outdoor chapel to its former glory. Our goal is not merely to rebuild a structure but to breathe new life and memories into this sacred space.
