Camino Mhacha 2026 - Turas na Tána (in ómós do Mattie Lennon)

Sabháil an dáta Dé Domhnaigh, an 23ú Lúnasa 2026 faoi choinne fillte CAMINO MHACHA!

Is siúlóid urraithe 25.5 míle (41 ciliméadar) í Camino Mhacha chun cistí riachtanacha a bhailiú go leanfadh Aonach Mhacha lena gcuid oibre ríthábhachtach ar son na Gaeilge agus ar son an chultúir sa phobal.

Leanfadh siúlóirí coiscéimeanna Chú Chulainn trí tús a chur leis i dTí Chulainn, Mullach Bán agus deireadh a chur leis ag Cultúrlann Aonach Mhacha, Cathair Ard Mhacha. Casfaidh an bhealach seo ó Fáinne Cnoc Shliabh gCuillinn, ceantar sár-áilleachta nádúrtha go croílár Ard Mhacha trí ghleannta agus trí chnoic atá suite i dtírdhreach atá fíor álainn ar fad agus trí cheantar atá ar maos sa mhiotaseolaíocht, sa stair agus sa litríocht.

Tá rud éigin ann do gach duine i mbliana!

Chomh maith le siúlóid 25.5 míle, tá lúcháir mhór orainn Siúlóid Teaghlaigh ó Scoil na mBráithre Críostaí go hAonach Mhacha a fhógairt.

Seo í an chéad bhliain de ‘Turas na Tána’, ómós an-speisialta do Mattie Lennon, nach maireann. Ba é Mattie an chéad duine a rith Camino Mhacha ag críochnú taobh istigh de 3 uair agus 37 nóiméad. Mar a dúirt a mhac Matthew, “Perhaps a legend, like the mighty Cú Chulainn himself, is the most apt description of all for someone who hurled like a man, played the game and got busy living”.

Camino Mhacha 2026 - Turas na Tána (tribute to the late Mattie Lennon)

Mark your calendars for Sunday the 23rd of August 2026 for the return of CAMINO MHACHA!

Camino Mhacha is a 25.5 mile (41 kilometer) sponsored walk to raise vital funds allowing Aonach Mhacha to continue its important work for the Irish Language and Culture in the community.

Walkers will follow the ancient footsteps of Cú Chulainn beginning at Tí Chulainn, Mullaghbane and finishing at Cultúrlann Aonach Mhacha, Armagh City. This route journeys from the foot of Slieve Gullion to the heart of Armagh through landscapes of natural beauty, steeped in mythology, history and literature.

This year there is something for everyone!

In addition to the 25.5 mile walk we are excited to introduce a Family Walk, beginning at Christian Brothers Primary School, Armagh to Aonach Mhacha.

This year’s relaunch also marks the inaugural ‘Turas na Tána’, a special tribute to the late Mattie Lennon. Mattie was the first person to run Camino Mhacha, clocking in a terrific time of 3 hours and 37 minutes. As his son Matthew beautifully put it “Perhaps a legend, like the mighty Cú Chulainn himself, is the most apt description of all for someone who hurled like a man, played the game and got busy living”.
