Camille's Journey: Courage and Care

Hello, my name is Aunt Audra and I am fundraising for my neice Camille & her wonderful family. Camille has been at Cook Children’s since April 21, bravely battling heart failure caused by a rare bacterial infection that has attacked her heart. Camille is currently on two strong antibiotics to fight the infection, but her care has become more complex.

Her Doctors are now concerned about enlargement of her liver and spleen, and she will need additional procedures and testings to rule out other underlying causes. Every day brings new challenges while Camille receives round-the-clock care.

Our family wants everyone to know that Camille faces the world with bravery each and everyday. She shows this same courage as she battles a rare bacteria infection that has affected her heart. Despite these challenges that she’s faces in her young life, she continues to inspire all of us with her determination and grace.

Camille has a deep love for her family, her friends at school, dancing and her iPad. Her laughter and smile affects everyone around her, and she has a way of connecting with so many people without words is truly remarkable.

Camille teaches us that life needs no language because it’s felt in the moments that we share. She may be non-verbal, but her story speaks volumes. Camille is our 15 year old Neice-daughter-she has all of our hearts and has had them from the first time we met her.

While Camille receives round-the-clock care, the Tusant’s are facing emotional, physical and financial strain. They were unable to get into the Ronald McDonald House, so Jeremy is traveling back and forth from The Colony Tx to the Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth to support us while juggling the other responsibilities at home while Sara stays in the Hospital with Camille.

The expenses are piling up quickly and so we are humbly asking for help. The money will be used for Your donation will directly support Camille’s care and our ability to be with her every step of the way. Here’s how the funds will be used

$500-1000 Medical Expenses

Covering deductibles, out of pocket hospital costs, medication and lab work

$500 Travel and Transportation

Gas, parking, and travel cost for Jeremy as he travels back and forth to be with us.

$500 Food and Lodging

Since we are not able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, we’ve had to pay for meals while we remain close to Camille.

$500-1000 Lost Wages

Jeremy is able to still work but has had to put in odd hours because of him going back and forth to the Hospital and the slow internet service while he is there. Sara is unable to work since she is at the hospital full time with Camille.

Any additional funds will help cover future recovery needs such as rehabilitation, therapy, long-term treatment, home health nurse or specialized care that Camille may need as her medical journey continues.
