Cambridge Acorn Project

Each year Velocity Commerce Ltd nominate and vote for a charity of the year. In 2024 we voted to make the CAMBRIDGE ACORN PROJECT our charity of the year. Cambridge Acorn Project offers therapeutic services to children, young people and families, who have experienced trauma and face financial hardship, giving them the chance to talk about anything which may be troubling, or worrying. Their gentle and empathic sessions respond to each individual’s unique circumstances. They believe in supporting people to build on their existing strengths to create change, promote recovery and tackle inequality.

Their charitable missions (Charity No: 1175019) is “to relieve the suffering of children and families in Cambridgeshire and surrounding localities facing trauma or emotional distress by the provision of a therapeutic model of social work”. Currently, more that 80% of our referrals involve historic domestic abuse, and they also work with children, young people and families who have experienced sexual and/or physical abuse, and neglect.
