During my time volunteering at Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary, bombs were dropped close to the sanctuary. We had to flee into the jungle for cover as explosions shook the ground around us. It was terrifying.
While myself and the other volunteers were able to evacuate to safety, the local community and staff from the sanctuary stayed behind. Too afraid to return to their homes and with nowhere safe to flee, many are now sheltering in the forest with limited access to food, water, medicine, and shelter, and communication.
We are raising funds to help provide support the people and animals at the sanctuary:
• Food, clothes, blankets and other essentials for the community members who are still displaced
• Communication equipment, such as power banks and radios, to keep staff connected during ongoing danger
• Materials to support the nearby village that was attacked
• Food and care for the elephants, monkeys, dogs, cats and other animals at the sanctuary who rely on staff and volunteers to survive
Any amount, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in helping these resilient people and vulnerable animals through this terrifying time. Thank you so much for your support.
