CAMBA on strike!

CAMBA Legal Services staff attorneys, law graduates, and support staff (e.g., paralegals and case aides) are striking for a fair contract. CAMBA workers provide legal aid services to Brooklyn's low-income neighbors and ensures access to vital services. The team works to prevent evictions, foreclosures, consumer fraud, and provides support on immigration issues for indigent folks in the community.
Since first unionizing last summer, CAMBA workers have been diligently working with management to ensure a fair contract. We are fighting for parental leave that does not require our members to go on food stamps or return to work before a baby is ready, a salary step scale that values support staff -- not just attorneys -- and is competitive with other legal aid organizations doing the same work. We want to build a life at CAMBA. Under the management’s contract offer, we cannot.
On March 27th, we conducted a 24-hour strike to put management on notice of the seriousness of their refusal to bargain with us in good faith. Management returned to us that same day with a final offer ultimatum.
We are now striking indefinitely for a fair contract. Striking for our families. For our clients. For a sustainable work environment.
We are seeking funds to support our members as we sacrifice our pay for our future. Any funds will go directly to help provide necessary medication, childcare, rent, and other basic needs to our striking members.
Please consider donating to our cause. We can't wait to go back to work -- until then -- we sign off in solidarity,
