A Message from the Heart

Dear Sponsors, Donors, and Dhamma Friends,

Hương Đạo Vipassanā Bhāvanā Center was established and operated for more than 25 years thanks to the faith and support of devotees both near and far, along with invaluable physical, financial, and intellectual contributions from many individuals.

For the past 25 years, the Center has offered various Dhamma activities, such as annual 10-day meditation retreats, monthly 3-day retreats for taking the Uposatha Precepts Day (Sabbath Day), Dhamma classes on Saturday mornings, Dhamma discussions every Wednesday night, and the Buddhist Youth program, including Vietnamese and Basic Dhamma classes, every Sunday. The Center has also been offering services to the community such as: an annual health fair with free consultations and screenings onsite, free food distribution to people in need, and many other activities to benefit the community.

The Center's facilities, including the kitchen, the dining room, and the classrooms were retrofitted over 25 years ago into century-old structures and have deteriorated beyond repair. As it is currently, they cannot adequately support the on-going activities of the center.

Recognizing the urgent need and long-term benefit of replacing these facilities, we earnestly request our sponsors, donors, and Dhamma friends to join hands and provide vital financial support for our planned multi-purpose building. This new building will have a powerful, lasting impact, replacing the dilapidated structures and creating new and improved facilities, including a dining area, an activity hall, a kitchen, classrooms, and meditation rooms. The planned total area of the new multi-purpose building is 40,000 square feet (3,700 square meters). Your generous support will play a crucial role in completing the new facilities before 2025. The new building’s completion is a critical milestone to support three major ceremonies scheduled from May 4 to 11, 2025 at Hương Đạo Buddhist Temple: the International Vesak Ceremony, the Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony to be held for the first time in the United States, and the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of the Ancient Sacred Buddhist Scripture Stupas Dhammacetiya.

This Letter from the Heart conveys my profound devotion to the Dhamma and my earnest desire to establish an environment that is both healthier and safer for everyone. We sincerely hope that this noble cause garners enthusiastic support from our Dhamma friends, both near and far, enabling the prompt commencement and completion of this construction project.
