Calling Community Support for Bonnie and the Bees
Donation protected
Hello Friends, Family & Community,
So many of us are woven together and have had our lives touched by this very special woman, Bonnie Shields. She has been a source of support and inspiration to communities all over the world. Her walk is a walk of devotional service and she continuously dedicates herself to the betterment, the healing, and the health of our community, every person she encounters, and the planet at large.
Bonnie is currently in school with Hoshindo Healing Arts Institute, which focuses on the homeopathic application of bee venom, known as apitherapy. Hoshindo is an ancient Japanese medicinal bee venom therapy lineage, pre-dating acupuncture. Apitherapy is known for having lasting, healing effects on Lyme, autoimmune conditions, cancer, arthritis, and a plethora of other serious ailments. Her schooling is extremely intensive, focusing on the complete meridian system of the body, five elemental Eastern medicine, and becoming an adept beekeeper.
Bonnie has been immersed in this specialized bee training program through Hoshindo Healing Arts Institute for the past year. In the final year before graduation, Bonnie suffered a great loss; her partner, Reilly, died suddenly in an accident.
While carrying her own grief process, Bonnie also stepped-in to be with and support his family in their grief, shock, and confusion. This led to a pause on her program, as well as all streams of income. Bonnie has been having a difficult time recovering from the financial loss incurred with impacts from the death of her partner. She has fallen behind on school payments and is facing the reality that she may be unable to complete her schooling without assistance.
Bonnie has been carrying the mission to complete school, and then create a non-profit focusing on the healing applications of bee venom, education and outreach within the community, and helping the honeybee community prosper in the Taos, New Mexico area. We all know that the protection, cultivation, and sanctuary of bee colonies is essential to the well-being of our ecosystems. Bees represent the health of an ecosystem, and with steady decline in recent years, our food systems are at risk without actions being taken to protect the bees. Dedicated effort to educate, preserve, and keep bees is in everyone’s best interest. In addition to ecosystem health, there are countless healing properties of bees, honey, and propolis. Our community is blessed to have someone like Bonnie who is dedicated to stewarding the bee populations, creating access to these healthy hives, and their medicinal properties.
In times of loss, community is more important than ever. As someone who has continuously supported the greater Taos communities, we now all have the opportunity to give back, and support Bonnie in finishing her education and ease the burdens of financial debts acquired during this time of tragedy.
Donations go directly to Bonnie to complete her program and live during this challenging chapter. Even through the loss she continues forward and remains dedicated to graduate and is actively working to secure the grants needed to bring the next stage of this project to life.
The prayer Bonnie is holding is a prayer for us all; our ecosystem; our health; our future generations.
Let’s give back to this woman who has given so much, and carry this dream together.
