Help California Street Farm recover from vandalism

Donation protected
We recently learned that California Street Farm, a vibrant vegetable farm in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis, was vandalized by someone who broke into the hoop house and ripped out tomato plants and destroyed ripening tomatoes and peppers. As a result, Elyssa Eull, the beginning farmer who is currently growing at California Street Farm, has lost 1/3 of her tomato production for the season - a very valuable crop that she was just starting to bring to market. As farmers who grew veggies at California Street Farm for three years we cannot imagine the heartbreak and frustration she must be feeling.

The loss of so many tomatoes is obviously a big loss for Elyssa and the farm, both in terms of lost sales and wasted labor, and we wanted to see if the community around the farm could help her overcome this terrible event. We've spoken with Elyssa, and using production and sales records from previous seasons we’ve estimated the crop loss will amount to around $1,200 over the course of the season. We offered to put together this GoFundMe to help Elyssa recoup some of her losses.

We believe California Street Farm is an integral part of the fabric of Northeast Minneapolis, and we want to support a young farmer working her tail off to get good, healthy vegetables into the neighborhood. If you feel the same way, we'd love your support!
