Caleb Patterson's Eagle Scout Project

Hi, my name is Caleb Patterson. I am a scout from Troop 2 Tolland, CT. I am fundraising for my Eagle Scout Project. An Eagle Scout Project is a project that all scouts that seek to earn their Eagle Scout Rank must complete. My Project is making 10 Cat Trees for Our Companions Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.

Our Companions is a non-profit organization that takes care of animals that have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect or have been turned in due to the owner's inability to afford the living costs of owning a pet. Our Companions has a sanctuary in Ashford, CT, where the cats are housed and socialized to help them find a new family. I have volunteered at Our Companions for the last four years and have seen the development of every cat from when they arrive on campus to when they are adopted. Our Companions is a genuinely gracious organization with wonderful people volunteering their time and efforts to rehabilitate the animal residents.

The 10 Cat Trees I will be building are for the new cat building currently in construction. Each cat has their own room or shares a room with a fellow cat. Each room has a catio outside for the cats to get some fresh air and as another space for the volunteers to socialize the cats. The Cat Trees I am building will be going in these catios. The Cat Trees will be made of wood that I will purchase from Sanford & Hawley, Inc, as they have offered me a $750 discount on the wood.

The donations I receive will be used to buy the materials, as well as pay for food and drinks for the people that will be attending my project work date. Any excess funds will go directly to Our Companions as a donation.
