Moira & Raevyn need to buy a house because a mortgage, these days, is cheaper than renting.
We are hoping to build a stable life for ourselves. We're trying to live the queer dream on a single-income in the United States, with one partner who is multiply-disabled. This is, as you can imagine, a challenge.
We are currently working with a realtor experienced helping those without access to generational wealth and living with multiple disabilities. (Long-term, Moira's diagnoses require that she live in a home that is wheelchair-accessible.) We're seeking grants through programs like Colorado Finance & Housing Authority.
In the meantime, this GoFundMe is intended to help accomplish this goal by allowing us to move forward with the purchase of a home ASAP. Costs covered by this campaign include these estimates:
- a 1-3% downpayment for a home
- closing costs
- inspection costs
- moving fees
- apartment lease-break fees
By donating to this campaign you are allowing us to experience the true freedoms of:
- not returning groceries to the shelves at checkout
- getting officially married
- leaving the heat on during the day in winter
- staying on medications not consistently covered by Medicaid
- not letting gas mileage dictate whether leaving the house is possible
- eating fresh food
- seeking regular dental care
- someday adopting a child
