It comes with such a heavy heart that my dear friends Gabrielle and Kyle Elwood's son, Rhett, has been diagnosed with cancer at 6 years old. Rhett is a strong, kind, and funny boy full of life. He's got the biggest squinty-eyed smile, a giant kind heart, and gives the best hugs. He has an amazing big sister, Carolina, and an amazing little sissy, Sawyer, who he loves building forts with and coloring ❤️. Some of their favorite things are playing outside, hanging out at the barn with the pigs, chickens, and cows with Grammie. He loves his dirt bike and going fast, and he loves sapping with Grampie. He also loves thrift shopping with Grandma and snuggling with his puppy, Briar.

This shadow of illness crept into their lives, revealing a diagnosis that would forever alter their lives. There are upcoming benefits that I will share on Facebook where all proceeds will directly go to the Elwood family. For those that do not know, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common form of childhood cancer. In ALL, the bone marrow makes too many immature white blood cells, and they do not mature correctly. The job of white blood cells is to fight infection, but white blood cells affected by cancer are unable to find and destroy viruses and bacteria.
