Caela's Swan Song

I'm Sophie and I am fundraising for a remarkable woman - Michaela. One of my closest friends, she is also one of the kindest, loveliest, most warm-hearted people I've ever met.

Caela and I have been friends since school, sharing the love of sport, music and of course plenty of mischief. She met her husband Andy at our school and the two of them have been inseperable since the age of 14. Caela became an Opera singer - a gorgeous soprano who was kind enough to sing at my wedding; a personal trainer - a hard task master; a proud mother of two teenage boys and a wonderful wife. Devastatingly now, as the saying goes, 'the fat lady sings'. The big C has hit for the second time and this time it's terminal.

Caela has always dreamed of sharing an adventure with Andy and her two boys and I'm determined to make this a reality. To pull this together I desperately need your help. Both Caela and Andy are dedicated classical musicians and, as many of you will know, this career doesn't provide for many holidays. With your support, I'm sending the four of them on an African safari. I see them sharing intimate moments overlooking Kenya's Masai Mara; laughing, crying, telling stories and creating unique memories. I'm planning a bucket list adventure the boys will never forget - a meaningful way for Caela to spend some of her little remaining time with her family.

I'm a tennis coach and I'm fundraising in many ways. In addition to running traditional book sales and bake sales, I'm running a silent auction for a stunning Persian rug. My big fundraiser, however, is this coming Friday when I will be running a sponsored 12-hour cardio tennis session at Edinburgh Sports Club in aid of Caela. If you're in Edinburgh, come and join in or just stop by to support me anytime from 8.30am. There will be tickets on sale with incredible prizes, donated by my many kind friends. A wise person once said 'No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted'.

I've organised this adventure through Karibu Kenya who have put the trip together at cost price, negotiating discounts from the Safari camps. However, the international flights, park fees, internal travel and the lodges for a family of four really add up.

I am looking to raise £20K and time is running out.

Please help me make this a reality for Caela and her family by donating as much or as little as you can. Caela has never been extravagant, has always been generous and was so brave when she had cancer for the first time. She's still brave today and will be to the end. Now is the time for her to have one last joy-filled adventure with her family while she can.

We can't help everyone but we can all help someone. Please help me to help Caela.
