Hello everyone!!
My name is Rip and I'm curating this fundraiser campaign on behalf of Cactus Bloom Collective and SCHC (Santa Cruz Hardcore).
Cactus Bloom & SCHC are two independent collectives in the Santa Cruz area who host inclusive, diy shows at SubRosa Community Space in Downtown Santa Cruz. We are putting this fundraiser together so that we can continue to host shows in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately..
OUR PA IS BROKEN! :(
The current PA system we have been using is no longer in reliable, working order due to the wear and tear of regularly hosting events for the community. We also weren't able to invest in quality gear initially due to a lack of funds.
Over time, our mixer started to become unreliable at shows. At first it was just one channel on our PA that wasn't working. Then, it started happening more frequently.. We also experienced one of our speakers breaking down. Now, our current PA situation is extremely inconsistent, to the point where cancelling shows has been considered.
It can hard being diy and curating non-profit events in an expensive place like Santa Cruz! Needless to say, this fundraiser has been a long time coming. It's imperative that we get a reliable, functioning PA system to replace our inconsistent, broken one to continue hosting inclusive, diy shows in Santa Cruz.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO IT!!
( Emma & Ethan from No Boot Straps performing at SubRosa c. 2018)
Having a safe, reliable place to come and meet new people is really really important..
Santa Cruz is a small town.. currently, there aren't very many consistent all ages spaces for youth to go to. For many, SubRosa shows can be their entry to local diy & queer culture & radical self love. It's a place where people can learn how to express themselves freely and artistically and a safe place to make friendships that can last a lifetime.
THAT'S WHY HAVING A RELIABLE PA & SAFE SPACE IS SO IMPORTANT!!
( this show was fun.. but LOUD :( haha! )
To cover the cost of our new, ideal PA set up, we are asking the community to help us gather $1700.
The funds will break down as follows:
- 2 QSC CP 12 Powered Speakers - $1000
- 2 Gator Aluminum Speaker Stands - $120
- 2 Shure SM58 Mic / Stand / Cable Bundles - $260
- 1 Mackie ProFX8v2 8 Channel Mixer - $220
- 1 Protective Bag to safely store our new mixer - $40
The total sum of all these parts comes to $1640, this plus tax will bring our total up to around the $1700 mark for total expenditure.
The gear we've chosen is based off of suggestions from friends in the professional audio world, personal experience, and known reliability from the brands we've selected.
Please! support us in this time by sharing this fundraiser page, donating if you have the means and supporting diy culture in Santa Cruz.
Thanks for your time,
Sincerely,
Cactus Bloom Collective / SCHC
