Cabrillo community battles for fair rental terms

We are residents of Cabrillo Mobile Home Estates - a mobile home park in Capitola and we need your help

The owner of the mobile home park has sent us notice that our space rent will increase by more than 55%

We also received draft of a new rental agreement with terms that raise some legality questions.

We are asking for financial support in order to obtain legal assistance and representation. The funds will be used for attorney fee’s so we can get legal help in understanding and negotiating a rental agreement that is fair and will preserve the affordability for us to stay in our homes

We are a small community- socially and economically diverse. We are seniors on fixed incomes. We are low income individuals and families. We are hardworking people trying to make ends meet. A lot of us have lived here in our home for a very long time

We, as residents of Cabrillo mobile home park, own the mobile home we live in but pay space rent for the site it sits on. Many of us are paying a mortgage on the mobile home we purchased.

The extreme increase on the space rent and the terms of the rental agreement from the park owner will cause hardship on many of us residents and could potentially cause some of us to lose our home

We are hoping to raise $15k and are grateful for any donation offered
