Hope Village

Hey friends. My name is Rae Hewett, and I'm the director of Hope Village, a CoHO initiative to build quality, affordable housing that targets transitioning members of the local homeless population back into self-sustaining lives of productive autonomy. Conway was surveyed, and you all agreed that the need to address homelessness in our city is a high priority! We want to help you with this!

This community of ten tiny homes is being constructed strategically adjacent to the CoHO property off of E Robins Street, where we will be able to revitalize an area of Conway stricken by poverty and need by creating a hub of hope. Here, members of the homeless community may be housed and placed into case management to help them obtain employment, apply for disability, connect with mental & physical health resources, and establish financial credibility so that they can move out at the end of the program as autonomous and productive members of society.

This project was launched in 2017 when fundraising for the land purchase began. The land was purchased, and soon after, we constructed the site plans and received permission from the City to begin the work.

In late 2018, we began recruiting a committee of dedicated, experienced, and compassionate citizens and then raised the first $100,000 in just a year. Our first home has been generously committed by Lifestyle Homes by Greg Lasker, who is also our lead member of construction planning for the remainder of the village.

Today, we stand on the precipice of breaking ground in preparation for installing sewer and electrical infrastructure. The time is imminent!

As these final negotiations are in progress, we are continuing to raise the funds that will keep the project moving forward into 2021.

You can help by ordering a t-shirt or a memorial brick for the walkways of the village; or by setting up a recurring donation through www.hopevillagecoho.org. Please also discuss with your class, congregation, or other group about inviting us in to speak and answer questions on the project in an effort to raise awareness and support.

Lastly, and most importantly, Like & Share our page and follow us on Instagram so that you can stay up to date on our upcoming events for getting the whole city involved in working as a team to love our neighbors and create a village of Hope!
