We are the Black freedom society; uniting with allies to fight for freedom, we breathe new life into an ongoing struggle. We
breathe for those who have already taken their last breath and use our voices to shout for lasting change in this unjust society.
We believe that humanity should not be distinguished by race, color, creed or gender. All people were created
equal. We champion Equality and seek to see all individuals treated with the same consideration. In looking back on history, we aim to shed light on the injustices that BIPOC have suffered
as individuals, and as a worldwide community. It is only in honouring the struggles of the past that we can heal and create a brighter future.

In light of the recent killings of many innocent black men and women by the police world wide, we as activists can not keep quiet and turn a blind eye. Which is why we have decided to organize 'The Freedom March Vancouver' on Juneteenth. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. We march to: fight for the voiceless, and use our voices to invoke change. We are expecting 30k+ to attend our march and demonstration. As you can imagine, creating something of this capacity requires a lot of time and money; as we need to execute things properly and safely. We have received a lot of support from our community and allies but we still need more to cover the cost of:

Transportation

Rental fees

Barricades/fences

Merchandise for attendees

Print material

Legal fees if need be

And other costs associated with the event planning

This movement matters to us because total freedom for all means empowering all members of society to thrive. We will highlight Black businesses to build collective wealth in our community and shed light on economics. We believe that we can all thrive together peacefully and harmoniously. But it starts with YOU!

"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for Justice, no matter who it's for or against"
