Byers Family in Need: Overcoming Fire Loss

Our Home Caught Fire — Please Help Us Rebuild

Over a month ago, our family experienced a devastating house fire. It started with a faulty RC car battery charger and quickly engulfed our garage, workout room and mudroom, spreading damage throughout our home.

By God’s grace, we are safe — but we’ve lost so much.

️ What Was Lost

Our van was completely destroyed, with flames reaching from underneath all the way through both sides. Inside and around the garage, we lost:

• Car seats, strollers, and all outdoor toys

• Appliances, workout equipment, and electronics

• Laptops, computers, and musical instruments

• Pantry food, fridges, and freezers

• Coats, shoes, purses, and luggage

• Dog beds, supplies, and food

• Paintings, family keepsakes, and furniture

And even where the fire didn’t burn — smoke and soot did. It’s in every corner of our home. I’ve been running the washing machine non-stop trying to salvage anything we can.

How It’s Affected Us

This has been emotionally devastating for our entire family.

Our son, Isaiah, has especially struggled. He was charging his RC car battery when the fire started. Although it wasn’t his fault, he blames himself and is battling nightmares and guilt.

Our daughter, Naomi Grace, has asthma, and the smoke exposure has severely affected her lungs. She was back in the ER recently.

This is hard. Honestly, it feels impossible at times. But we believe God is walking with us — through the fire, through the grief, through the mess.

We believe He will restore all that was lost — and more. This storm is shaping us, growing us, and one day, we will look back stronger, kinder, and more compassionate. Please also pray everyone in the family would feel safe again when we are able to move back into our home.
