Help Special Reclaim Her Health : Stand Against the Neglect of Women’s Wellness
Did you know that medical malpractice is the third leading cause of harm in the United States, and when it comes to women’s health, the negligence is even more staggering?
Women’s voices are too often dismissed, their symptoms ignored, and their pain prolonged within a system that wasn’t designed to listen to them.
Our beloved Special, like many women, is facing this reality firsthand.
Special has recently discovered the source of a myriad of health concerns she’s been battling for years : stemming from her breast implants placed 20 years ago, and she is being ignored by her doctors, who are denying any connection. Unable to get the mainstream medical support she needs, Special needs our help to take her health into her own hands and urgently pursue an explant surgery to restore her well-being.
Breast Implant Illness (BII) affects thousands of women, causing a range of debilitating symptoms like chronic fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, migraines, and skin rashes etc... Many doctors deny the connection, leaving women unheard. Despite growing awareness, BII remains underdiagnosed, impacting hundreds of thousands worldwide. With limited support from the medical community, women are often left to take their health into their own hands, seeking solutions like explant surgery to restore their well-being.
Special is a devoted herbalist, a modern-day wise woman whose gifts have enriched countless lives in her community. For years, she has shared her herbal medicines, wisdom, and stories, offering healing and care in many forms. Like the great witches and wise women of history—who were often marginalized for their sacred ways—Special has held space for others to heal and thrive. Now, the giver is in need of receiving. It’s time to rally around her, just as she has done for so many, and support her on this journey back to health.
Despite thousands of women sharing their experiences and undeniable evidence emerging, many doctors refuse to acknowledge the link between implants and illness. Unfortunately her doctor is no exception, and because she is on Medical, she is unable to change Primary Physicians as there are none taking new clients in the county, leaving her not only in pain but without validation or support.
But we won’t stay silent. We won’t wait for a system that fails so many to catch up.
The Reality
Women are often told their symptoms are "in their heads." They’re dismissed as anxious or overreacting. It’s part of a larger issue—a medical system that routinely undervalues women’s experiences and silences their pain.
This fundraiser is about more than just helping Special. It’s about standing up for all women who’ve been dismissed and denied. It’s about creating a ripple effect of awareness, compassion, and action to demand better care and justice for women everywhere.
Why We Need Your Help
We’re raising $20,000 to fund:
Life-Saving Explant Surgery: Removal of her implants to stop the illness at its source.
Travel Costs: To get her to a specialist who understands BII and provides the care she deserves with 10 days of accommodations for post op and removal of drains. She currently has three surgeons she is consulting with (vetted from a list of other women who have undergone this procedure).
Post-Surgery Recovery: So she can heal her body and reclaim the vibrant life she deserves.
Time Off Work for Surgery and Recovery : Special works with her hands, making medicine and tending to the gardens of her friends. This procedure will have her out of work for 2+ months and she needs to sustain her life in the meantime.
Your support isn’t just helping one woman—you’re joining a movement to spotlight the injustice in women’s healthcare and empower others to advocate for their health.
