Since I was a young boy I’ve been impacted by the skate community. As I’ve grown this passion for skating and doing something impactful for my community has also grown.
7 years ago I was a key part in envisioning and designing an incredible non for profit skatepark. We had open skate nights and ran and facilitated over 200 students in the learn to skate program.
Throughout the years I’ve dreamed of what else can be done to draw in not only new skaters but also skilled skaters.
In this next season my desire is to open a ‘By Skaters for Skaters YEG’ indoor skatepark in Edmonton, Alberta.
The ramps we used previously have been waiting in storage in Ontario. Shipping these ramps is expensive so my plan is to fly to Ontario and to drive cross country with them.
This is stage one of the project and will cost funds, so I’m calling on YEG skaters and also my fellow Canadians to help support this skate initiative. We’re expecting this to grow not only in Edmonton, but also something that eventually will grow nationwide and can impact the beautiful sport of skateboarding in Canada.
The total cost covers Ontario Flight, Uhaul rental, gas and roadside stay. $6000 will cover Stage 1. If you’d like to support this initiative you can donate towards the ‘By Skaters for Skaters YEG’ go fund me!
