Francisco Benjamin Lopez was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador on Oct 4, 1966. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He was full of life and always found ways to make everyone around him smile. He had a great sense of humor and always saw the positive even in the most negative of situation’s. Furthermore, he loved serving in his community whether it was by helping people find jobs, passing out meals to those least fortunate or simply making everyone he met feel loved and “seen.” He loved sports from watching his hometown teams L.A. Rams or Lakers to analyzing soccer games from tactics to formations with his son. He made a career in the retail industry which was his dream job, working every job from sweeping floors till he became owner and consultant.

He battled cancer bravely for five years even when all odds were against him. All the chemo’s, surgeries, immunotherapy, constant hospital, and ER visits and that is not even mentioned the amount of pain he endured yet you will always see him smiling and cheering up everyone around him. He had the biggest heart for his family and people despite battling for his life every day. He was a literal walking miracle and blessing to this world. The pandemic changed all our lives and ours wasn’t the exemption. Given that my dad was immune suppressed because of his battle with cancer when he caught covid his body was not able to battle the virus. It completely consumed and destroyed his lungs.

His spent the last month of his life connected to a ventilator under heavy sedation and a pain medicine without able to talk or see us. His body slowly deteriorated and it was one of the hardest things to see, to see my dad slip away slowly without being able to tell him one last time how much we loved him or say goodbye. As my dad took his last breath I held his hand and told him “dad, can you hear my heart beat? Know that it will always beat for you.” Writing about this now hurts so much as there is a big void in our lives and our hearts are shattered. We will miss his contagious smile, his advice, and big heart. May we remember him as he always was a caring and loving friend, husband, and father. You will live on in our dreams, thoughts and hearts. We love you dad and we always will.
