Hello, my name is Doug, and I am a single father. I have raised my sons and have been with them every day of their entire life. I decided to resign from my position with my company on the west coast and relocate to the east coast to support my spouse while she deployed. I was able to find a job and get my sons into daycare. Unfortunately, my spouse was quickly deployed. Shortly after, my sons enrolled in daycare, so I was now on my own for a while. Then the covid-19 pandemic happened. For a second time, I had to resign my position at my company to take care of my sons and keep the family together. The daycare and schools in my city shut down for a long time, thus impeding my ability to work. I decided to return to college online and finish my degree while using my benefits to pay for food and bills. Shortly after I started back at college, I discovered my spouse was having a relationship with another man on deployment. Upon returning, she chose to abandon my children and me in the house. She decided to file for divorce instead of going to the family counseling I had set up and quickly went back on deployment. I was alone without family or friends near. By God's grace and my family's support, I completed my bachelor's degree while using my benefits to pay bills and provide for my children. I also took my seven-year-old through his entire kindergarten year of virtual learning, and he did very well in his classes. I was able to find another job once the schools opened back up and enrolled my sons back in daycare and public school for my seven-year-old. Unfortunately, the divorce has put me in a lot of debt that will take me a very long time to pay off. I need help to retain a lawyer who can be a voice for me and fight against the false allegations that I am a deadbeat father. My sons are all I have; I have sacrificed my career multiple times to raise them and keep them safe. I have been so helpless financially for the first time in my life.
