A Family of Our Own

Donation protected
As a child Chris would pray to someday have a family of his own; it is what he truly wanted in life and would ask God to help make it possible. Then, as a teenager, he was diagnosed with a condition he was told made him infertile. Doctors said it would take a miracle for him to have children. He struggled with the belief that God gave him the desire to have a family but also make it physically impossible to do so; making him both turn from God but also believe that God make him this way for a reason.

Later in life, Chris would learn of another diagnosis that would create a feeling of life being over and all that he wanted being unattainable – would never have a family of his own, get a college degree, or have a good job. It took over a decade before he was able to manage this new diagnosis and find a path towards recovery including earning his associate degree and a sustainable job. Then in his late thirties, he met the woman who would become the love of his life and wife – Morgan.

Morgan also grew up wanting a family of her own. She grew up with a large extended family getting together for not just the once-a-year big holidays but the smaller ones in between. She grew up with 19 first cousins; some older taking the roles of big sisters and brothers, others younger who she would help take care of, and all of them tight-knit and loving. To Morgan, there is nothing more important, nothing more precious, than family.

Morgan and Chris met in 2017, through the online dating app eHarmony. Morgan figured a man willing to fork out actual cash to be on a dating site must be someone serious about commitment, and she struck gold for sure. Morgan and Chris texted for a month before meeting in person for brunch, and Morgan will tell you she knew from that first meeting that Chris was meant to be in her life. She didn’t know exactly but would later tell him that she knew either they were destined for great love or would be the best of friends.

Their first date became two, which became three and soon they were spending as much free time together as possible. In 2019, in a small backyard wedding surrounded by family, they vowed to share their lives.

Morgan knew early on in their dating of Chris’s diagnosis and that he was unable to have children naturally. But it didn’t matter to Morgan, she knew there were other ways to have a family and that together they would find a way. Now, four years into marriage, they’re ready to start on the journey of expanding their lives and starting a family of their own.

This GoFundMe is to help them reach their goals of starting a family. Adoption costs are upwards, and sometimes over $40k – between applications, legal fees, home study, agency costs, and placement fees. This is where we are asking you, our community, to help us make our dreams come true. We are applying for grants, looking at our savings, and exploring every option available to have a family of our own.

Anything you can offer (from $5 or $500) is so appreciated and we are so grateful. Any money earned that is not needed for direct adoption costs will be used for infant essentials (I.e., diapers, car seat) and placed into a college fund for Baby Curry.
