Personal Alarms to Protect Elders in NYC Chinatown

Dear Friends,
I'm raising funds to purchase 150 personal alarms to be donated to seniors in NYC Chinatown. With the rise in anti-Asian attacks, our seniors are scared to leave their homes.
**UPDATE: We've reached our goal to buy 150 alarms for the elderly! Since we are continuing to raise funds, the next 150 will go towards restaurant workers and business owners and staff in Chinatown.
In the past week alone, the death of 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee, a Thai man who was tackled and assaulted by a 19 year old man has rattled and shaken the entire Asian American community to its core, and raised battle cries for awareness in cities such as San Francisco and Oakland. However, it is important to note that the violence towards Asian Americans is not central to these particular two cities: in San Jose, California, a 64-year old Vietnamese woman was robbed and assaulted. A Filipino man in New York City was slashed in the face. And it is even more important to note that these types of hate crimes and attacks are not a recent phenomenon; the hatred and racism against Asian Americans have persisted through decades and have only catalyzed since the pandemic has happened. Enough is enough.
ShesBirdie , a woman-owned company based in LA, offers personal safety alarms for women with a percentage of profits to partner organizations that passionately support women’s safety, shelter, and health. This personal safety device is designed with a deafening 130dB siren (about as loud as a jet engine roaring at about 100 feet) and a strobe light. #chirploudly
She's Birdie has generously offered the alarms at a discounted rate in support of the Asian community. With the discount, the alarms would cost roughly $15 apiece. Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase more alarms. I'm currently in contact with a non-profit supporting Chinatown to help distribute to seniors.
I've personally raised $1100 separate to GoFundMe through private donations from friends and family.
