Buy Back Buffalo

Hi, my name is Joel Shackleford and I am fundraising to buy back land in Buffalo. The unceded land of the Haudenosaunee and in honor of the sovereignty of the Six Nations–the Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Seneca and Tuscarora Nation.

My heart’s desire is to create and build a safe community our BIPOC Buffalonians have only seen in their dreams.

An act of war was made in the food desert; minutes from the “fruit belt” in Buffalo, New York on May 14th 2022.

On May 15th the call to action to win back our city was cried out by so many.

With the funds we raise we will buy back empty plots of land on the East Side of Buffalo and we will begin to truly “Build Back Better”.

We will bring value back to the East Side of Buffalo.

We will encourage Black and Brown folx to be at the forefront of the development of these new communities and create a new generation of land owners.

No longer will the sleazy developers, who have destroyed the beauty of the Queen City, have control over our skyline. No longer will crooked politicians, whose reign has been extended far too long, line their overflowing pockets with the hard-earned dollars of their constituents. No longer will our city be built on the labor of Black and Brown bodies and our successes snatched from them.

The funds collected will help develop Black and Brown owned businesses in the community.

We will use the funds to help empower the Black and Brown youth of today so they are set up with the most success tomorrow!
