My mum suffered from mental illness for roughly 20 years and attempted suicide on several occasions. Sadly we lost her to suicide on 13th March 2020. We started Butterfly Effect together and sadly didn’t get to do everything we envisioned before she left. I vowed that I would carry it on in her memory and help as many as I could in her situation. We run Butterfly Effect and currently have a portacabin up at Paringdon sports club. We started running groups from church halls in 2020, during the pandemic to help people with mental ill health.
We have been offered a building through Harlow council, but unfortunately, it needs a lot of work done to it. A new roof, pointing, floors, kitchen, bathroom, decorating, gardens etc. As the groups we run are mainly free, we have not got the money to do this upfront.
I’m asking if anyone could help fund this so we can have a lovely community hub, that can hold so many more groups for people and also have the outdoor space to other a safe space for people to come and just BE. We are looking at roughly £80K, to get it to the standards that will make it a lovely, safe place.
We are a non-profit, run by volunteers.
