Hi Friends,
Next Sunday (8 Feb) I am attempting to swim 3.6km all the way around the Busselton Jetty - again! Last year, a two metre swell and some very choppy waters meant that the sea won round one; we had to pull out of the swim at the end of the jetty. While I am still a wheelchair user with sinking legs and questionable core strength, the predicted weather conditions are much better this year, and I am counting on my buff shoulders to get my all the way around the jetty this time.
I have been trained for this swim by my beautiful friend and physio, Rebecca Hughes, and Rebecca's gorgeous niece, Zoe Batt. Rebecca will be swimming around the jetty with me to make sure I don't drown or get eaten by a shark out there. Rebecca is also there to gently tap my toes from side to side to make sure I'm swimming towards the finish line, because swimming backstroke means I have absolutely no idea what direction I'm swimming in most of the time.
Last year, your amazingly generous support for my swim raised over $2000 for the Dr Louissa Alessandri Memorial Fund Scholarship, which is a scholarship that supports disabled people in tertiary education. I am again raising funds for the same scholarship, and your donations are so greatly appreciated.
