The Love Project serves vulnerable women in Memphis by providing basic necessities and support. We attend to women who have fallen through the cracks of society by showing love and support with no strings attached.
Every week dedicated volunteers pack care bags for distribution with toiletries, water, toilet paper, socks, and snacks. Then on Thursday nights another group of volunteers pack a mini van with lovingly prepared food, clothing, shoes, blankets, pepper spray, feminine hygiene items and first aid supplies. They spend hours driving Summer Avenue, stopping to attend to the women on the street. No commitment, no questions asked.
The number of women we see has grown. We have outgrown the mini van operation and have had to make the difficult choice of what items we don’t have room to take. That means some weeks we can’t provide shoes, or clothes, blankets or coats. Even one unmet need is unacceptable and heartbreaking.
The exciting news is that we’ve located a BUS with which we can expand our operation. The interior will be outfitted with racks and bins for storage, potentially eliminating the need for one of our storage units. There is the capability to open window for easier supply distribution. A desk/office area can be established for the purpose of client case management and assistance in accessing community resources. The possibilities are endless and the benefits to our beloved clients are so exciting!
Your generous donations can make these dreams a reality. There is no greater obligation than providing comfort to those in need and the preservation of their dignity. We chose to do this through love. Join us!
