Burringbar - Mooball Flood Fund

In Burringbar and Mooball, in just 24 hours the rush of water pelting from the sky, severe winds and the rising of the creeks brought destruction to our villages. A life was lost, cars were washed away, houses moved, trees fallen, land slides destroyed houses and property, driveways washed away, sections of road completely washed down the reek. People were flooded in, many experienced the panic of a raging river through their house at midnight. Some have lost their homes or most of their belongings.

Now as the rains clear and we begin drying out, its becoming clear some people won't be eligable for insurance and will indeed have lost literally everything in one night.

This problem is not isolated to our communities but we are small enough to be forgotten in the major help going to Murwilumbah and Lismore. We would like to offer financial help to locals for items that should have been covered by insurance but werent ie: fridges, washing machines, kitchen repair, fences etc. mechanical help for vehicles, things that can help get them back in to a livable house.

If you can spare some funds they would be greatly appreciated and will be well used (managed by The Burringbar Community Association Treasury) Thank you for your kindness and sticking together when we need it most!
