Orange Shoe Personal Fitness (Orange Shoe), renowned for its highly personalized approach to training and wellness, is rallying its community for a cause that hits close to home. The Andersonville based studio has launched the "Calories for a Cause" campaign to raise funds for Hannah Johnson, a dedicated client whose husband, Mike Truskoski, is battling stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.
To help ease the financial burden of his treatment, Orange Shoe has set up a GoFundMe page where clients, friends, and supporters can contribute directly. Donations will assist with medical expenses as Mike continues treatment for this aggressive form of lung cancer, which was discovered after he suffered a seizure during a work call on his birthday, December 10. Despite never smoking, Mike’s cancer was caused by a genetic mutation and has since spread to his lymph nodes and liver. While his condition is incurable, he remains active as an aviation planner and youth hockey coach, drawing strength from his wife, Hannah, and their two young daughters.
From March 16 to March 22, the Andersonville Orange Shoe studio will host a fundraising challenge to further support Hannah’s family. Funds raised during this period will help provide for their daughters’ future and allow the family to explore potential treatment options that may not be covered by insurance. As part of the challenge, Orange Shoe trainers will burn one calorie for every $10 donated, transforming sweat into support.
Hannah, who has lived in Andersonville for 15 years, became an Orange Shoe client in July 2023 after struggling to find a fitness program that truly worked for her. A strong supporter of locally owned businesses, she was drawn to Orange Shoe’s personalized approach and welcoming community.
The campaign will culminate on March 28, when trainers at Orange Shoe will burn the “calories” raised through donations in a show of solidarity.
