Burkley’s Choir Trip to Canada
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Burkley Adelayne Massey and I’m 12 years old. I’m currently in the 7th grade and on a scholarship at Fort Worth Country Day. At school, I’m on the swim team, in Show Choir, on the Student Council Executive Board, and a member of the National Junior Honors Society. So far, in my 3rd year at Country Day, I’ve made straight A’s on all my report cards. Outside of school, I swim year round on a club team, am in gymnastics, and play piano. In May of ‘23, I auditioned and was invited to join the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus (DSCC). I also receive a scholarship for this choir. We rehearse once a week and some weekends and have many performances with the Dallas Symphony at The Meyerson all year long. This coming summer, the DSCC has been invited to perform with a Canadian Boys Choir—our renowned director has designed a wonderful trip to Canada around our performance. A tour company will manage the trip from soup to nuts! It will be my first opportunity to take an international trip.
As many of you know, I have a rare, incurable disease called an AVM. I’ve had 32 surgeries since the age of 22 months, and have been on an experimental cancer medicine this past year. I travel to Little Rock to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for all of my surgeries. This will continue for the unforeseeable future.
I would really love to go on a trip that does not involve surgeries, bloodwork, anesthesia or doctors’ offices-even though I LOVE my doctors and hope to be one when I grow up;).
Please DONATE to help me go on my first big trip to sing in Canada! Even though the trip is next June, I have to pay $450 each month to keep my reserved spot. Thank you very much for your consideration and support!
