The Xavante (A’uwẽ) are an Indigenous people living in the eastern part of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Known for their strong cultural identity. They speak the Xavante language, part of the Jê language family, and maintain deep spiritual and ecological ties to their land.
Traditionally, the Xavante live in communal villages where decisions are made collectively. Their culture includes complex ceremonies, storytelling, body painting, and rites of passage that reinforce identity and social bonds across generations.
