Hello! So a couple of months ago, I made a bet. A friend of mine who runs a strongly-followed Norwich City fan account called 'BleedNorwich' made a post titled: 'Tag A Player, and comment what you would do if they reply'. I decided to tag fan-favourite Mohamed Touré and confidently claimed that the consequence of him replying to my comment would be that I would have to cycle to the first away game of the upcoming season. I wasn't initially expecting a response, but Touré did respond. Rather quickly as a matter of fact

So, what once was a very silly Instagram bet has now turned into something for a really good cause. I said in the comment that I would do this for charity, and do it for charity I shall! The Bungay Community Support is a very local organisation that provides practical assistance, advice, and social activities to residents of Bungay and neighbouring villages within a 6-mile radius. As well as offering subsidised grocery provisions and essential delivery services, they also provide social sessions, financial and welfare advice and so much more! But recently, the charity learned that their main base on Number 28 Wingfield Street is set to be sold by the owner, which would leave the charity without a hub and likely with no other option but to permanently close. With efforts to find a suitable rental property unsuccessful, a permanent alternative building has been identified, but the charity needs £400,000 to secure and refurbish this property.

If the target is not hit, the town of Bungay risks losing the fundamental and essential services provided to its citizens by Bungay Community Support. These include:

1) The Food Hall: A heavily relied-upon service supporting roughly 70 local households each week (with another 30 on a waiting list).

2) Outreach & Practical Advice: A critical first point of contact for struggling residents, working alongside groups like Citizens Advice.

3) Wellbeing & Friendship: Befriending services and community activities specifically aimed at reducing social isolation.

I admit that I may have overlooked some of these services that are provided so locally to me, ones that have done so much good for the people of Bungay, and my family. For that, I can only apologise, but this is the only way I can really give back to Bungay Community Support. So please, consider chipping in whatever you can; it should go directly to the charity and help the services continue!
