Building Supplies -Agomeda, Ghana

Tax deductible
I have agreed to lead a team of builders to the old market town of Agomeda in Ghana from January 14-24, 2018 to continue the work of constructing homes for civil servants living in or near that town. The new homes are a prized opportunity; in Ghana it is not possible to find loans on the open market with such customer-friendly repayment schedules.

It would be hard to find a more cheerful, optimistic group of folks than the young families in this little colony. Agomeda is about an hour up from Accra (the capital) on the coast. I went there last year as a team member. Progress was made constructing three homes.  Now, a year later, it is time to complete these structures.

Funds raised will go directly to pay for construction materials.  A young nurse named Sarah Quarshie, her nine-year-old daughter, and her mother will move into one of the three homes. For this relatively small amount of money, Sarah and two other prospective neighbors will gain home ownership and stability.

I am invested in this project because of the driving force of a nurse who was part of last year's team.  Bea Haapanen, RN, became great friends of young Sarah.  Our nurse friend Bea passed away in July of this year. I know it was Bea's heartfelt desire that Sarah's home be completed. Our building trip this January is called the Bea Haapanen Memorial Build in her honor.
