Introduction
The Fishers of Mankind Foundation, founded in 2016 by La'Mont "Montiano" Henderson, a native of the DMV, was born from a vision of hope and a desire to create meaningful change. Inspired by the innovative work of Elvis Summers in Los Angeles, the foundation is dedicated to empowering individuals experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C., to rebuild their lives.
What this Fundraiser is For
This fundraiser aims to support the foundation's core mission: to provide comprehensive support services to individuals experiencing homelessness in the DMV area. Specifically, the funds raised will go towards:
- Developing and deploying mobile tiny home shelters: These innovative shelters will offer a safe and dignified living space for individuals lacking permanent housing, providing a foundation for rebuilding their lives.
- Expanding mental health services: Addressing the critical need for mental health support, the funds will support access to counseling, therapy, and medication management for individuals experiencing homelessness.
